Japanese mobile phone operator NTT Docomo has acquired a 25% stake in VMG Media Joint Stock Company, a Vietnamese mobile content provider, for VND370bn (US$18m).
In the context of the transaction state-owned Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) will water down its 36% stake in VMG to 29%, once the transaction with Docomo is completed.
In a statement, Docomo said that this deal represents the company’s first investment in Vietnam. According to its website, Docomo is already present in several Asian countries, as well as in the US and Germany.
