Finnish mobile operator DNA has promoted Jukka Leinonen, VP of corporate business, to CEO after he had been acting in the position since the end of August.
Leinonen replaces Riitta Tiuraniemi, who left shortly after the telco called off a sale to focus instead on growing the business.
Chairman Jarmo Leino, who is also head of DNA’s largest shareholder Finda Oy, said: “The aim of the board of directors was to find a CEO who has a strong ability to map out new opportunities for DNA in the midst of the upheaval in the telecommunications industry. Jukka Leinonen stood out among several good candidates by meeting this need particularly well.”
Before joining the company in 2010 Leinonen had held a variety of corporate business sales, marketing and product management positions in the telecoms since 1995.
Last week the telco priced its first ever bond to raise €100m (US$135m) for general corporate purposes.
CFO Timo Karppinen told TelecomFinance he was very pleased with the response to the debut, although there were “no plans to go to bond market again this year”.
