Satellite pay TV broadcaster Dish Network has launched DishOnline.com an online video portal integrating live and recorded TV with a selection of movies, TV shows, clips and trailers on one platform. This follows similar initiatives from Verizon and HBO.
Dish also announced at the beginning of August that it would soon allow customers to stream live satellite TV to their iPads, iPhones, and BlackBerrys at no extra charge. Dish has developed this service to follow the migration of consumers to mobile communications solutions.
The company reported its 2Q’10 results on August 9. The company had total revenue of US$3.17bn for the quarter, a 9.1% increase compared with US$2.9bn for the corresponding period in 2009.
Net income attributable to common shareholders totalled US$257m for the quarter compared with US$63m for the corresponding period in 2009.
