Alberto Mordojovich, Chile country manager for Dimension Data says the firm’s proposed takeover by Japan’s NTT will accelerate the company’s expansion into Latin America.
The South African information and communication technology service provider already has a presence in Mexico, Brazil and in April entered Chile through the acquisition of 51% of Chilean IT systems integrator Magenta.
Mordojovich told Business News America: “Dimension Data is in Mexico and Brazil and the game plan is probably going to be to enter countries like Peru and Argentina. Probably NTT’s acquisition is going to accelerate Dimension Data’s move into other countries in Latin America.”
NTT has offered to buy Dimension Date for about £2.1bn (US$3.2bn) earlier this month. The boards of directors of both companies have reportedly accepted the deal and NTT has said it expects the acquisition to close by the end of October and for Dimension to operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary.
NTT said it would finance the acquisition by existing cash resources and loan facilities arranged by the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi.
Mordojovich concluded: “The whole world is very excited about cloud computing and data services, and I think that that is why NTT is interested in buying Dimension Data.”
