Caribbean mobile operator Digicel has acquired the Haitian operator Communication Cellulaire d’Haiti (ComCEL) from US-based telecoms investor Trilogy International Partners for an undisclosed amount.
In a statement, Digicel said that the deal was closed on 30 March. It added that the two companies will continue to be run separately.
Trilogy’s president, Brad Horwitz, said in a statement that the company employed staff of 600 in Haiti and has over one million customers there. Digicel itself has over 3.5m customers on the island.
ComCEL operates under the Voila brand name.
