German incumbent Deutsche Telekom (DT) has denied that it wants to acquire Kosovar incumbent PTK.
German Handelsblatt paper quoted a DT spokesperson saying that Deutsche Telekom is not interested in the asset that is currently being privatised.
The denial came in reply to an earlier report in an Austrian publication, claiming that DT was among the parties interested in a takeover of PTK, alongside Turkcell, France Telecom, and Dubai based Delta Partners. Delta is advised by former TA chief executive Boris Nemsic, who confirmed that the firm is assessing PTK.
In an earlier privatisation attempt in 2011, DT’s Croatian subsidiary T-Hrvatski and Telekom Austria had been shortlisted, but the sale process was called off following corruption allegations against senior PTK management.
Telekom Austria told TelecomFinance in early June that it would not participate in a new PTK privatisation process.
According to Austrian Wirtschaftsblatt, Telekom Austria is more interested in Telekom Srbija, if the asset should come up for sale again next year.
