Lithuanian mobile operator Omnitel has named Dan Stromberg as its new CEO.
Stromberg has worked for Omnitel’s parent company, Sweden’s TeliaSonera, for more than 20 years, and started his new role last Friday (14 June). He replaces Antanas Zabulis, who has been CEO since 2000.
Stromberg has held several positions within the TeliaSonera group. From 2009 to 2012, he led the landline business in Denmark, returning it to profitability, Omnitel stated.
Kennet Radne, head of TeliaSonera’s Baltic mobile division, said the Lithuanian mobile market is undergoing a challenging transition period. He said Omnitel plans to implement a new business strategy and continue to expand its 4G LTE network coverage and increase capacity in an effort to secure market leadership and increase profitability.
