David Shaw, head of the Caribbean arm of Cable and Wireless Communications (CWC), is to step down.
CWC said he will leave in six months time to ensure a smooth transition. CEO Tony Rice is taking over his responsibilities and will coordinate with the regional management team from London for the foreseeable future.
Shaw took over the role in 2009; he was previously COO of the region.
The UK-listed company operates as Lime across the Caribbean across 14 territories.
Since last autumn CWC has been refocusing its business towards Central America and the Caribbean – what it calls the pan-American region – selling off its its Monaco & Islands unit and its majority stake in Macanese operator CTM. The two disposals, which have only partially closed so far, could raise up to US$1.78bn.
