UK corporate telco Cable&Wireless Worldwide is to launch an enterprise cloud computing service starting next month. Launching a trial Early Adopters Programme in early July will enable C&W Worldwide to develop a solution that is trustworthy, secure, compliant and controlled, the company stated. Based on Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS), it is an extension of C&W Worldwide’s data centre management and virtualised hosting services already used by enterprise and government customers.
This strategy, says C&W, should help customers take advantage of the cost and performance benefits that cloud computing will offer for day-to-day operations and on a project-by-project basis, while cutting hardware costs, improving power and cooling efficiency, enabling better server management and flexibility, creating a shared IT infrastructure and enhancing disaster recovery and business continuity.
Customers participating in the trial will be invited to give their feedback via blogs, webinars and discussion forums.
