The UK chipmaker and provider of personal wireless technology, CSR, has agreed to acquire the US digital imaging, audio and video company Zoran for US$679m.
Under the terms of the agreement, Zoran shareholders will receive 1.85 CSR shares (in the form of American Depository Shares) for each share of Zoran common stock they own.
In a statement, CSR said that “the merger” was designed to strengthen its core business by adding imaging and video capability.
It also said that the deal would also create new growth opportunities within global consumer markets, including digital cameras and the next generation of home entertainment products.
