Croatian regulator Hakom has called for applications for spectrum in the 791-862MHz range, suitable for LTE mobile broadband services.
Croatia’s three mobile operators – Deutsche Telekom-owned T-Mobile, Telekom Austria Group member Vip and Tele2 – have already expressed interest in obtaining licences for the frequencies, which were freed up when the nation completed its switch from analogue to digital broadcasting in October 2010. The deadline for applications is 15 October and licences for frequencies in the 791-821MHz and 832-862MHz bands will run until 18 October 2024.
Hakom said it expects the auction will contribute several hundred million kuna (HRK100m equals US$16.7m) to this year’s state budget.
The regulator said its goals for the auction include extending access to fast-speed broadband services to as many citizens as possible and creating opportunities for investment in infrastructure and new technologies.
