CPI International has acquired Radant Technologies, a designer and manufacturer of composite radomes, reflector antennas and structures for aerospace and naval applications.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, although CPI stated that it acquired the privately held company using cash-on-hand. As of 28 June 2013, CPI had cash and cash equivalents totalling US$61.3m.
CPI stated that the acquisition of Radant would add radomes, microwave antennas that are enclosed in a dome, to its microwave & RF product portfolio.
Commenting on the deal, Joe Caldarelli, chief executive officer of CPI, said: “With the addition of RTI’s industry-leading products, including its advanced composite radomes, CPI can now offer an even broader portfolio of RF products to customers who are already working with CPI to support their defence and communications systems.”
Since its US$525m leveraged buyout by private equity firm Veritas Capital in December 2010, CPI has made a number of bolt-on acquisitions to gain scale.
In 2012, it snapped up its Australian peer Codan Satcom as well as US-based Locus Microwave. In late June 2013, CPI then bought M C L, a manufacturer of power amplifier products and systems for the satellite communications market.
