Greece’s incumbent mobile operators, Cosmote, Vodafone and Wind Hellas, have all applied to take part in the country’s November spectrum auction.
According to Greek telecoms regulator EETT, no other parties had registered to take part by its 21 October registration deadline for the sale of frequencies in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz spectrum bands.
The Greek ministry aims to raise at least E300m from the auction, which will be used to support the country’s significant debt repayments.
Further to this aim, EETT also intends to auction Wind Hellas and Vodafone’s 2G licences before they are due to expire in September 2012, instead of just reissuing them.
