The CorporaciĆ³n Paraguaya de Comunicaciones (Copaco), Paraguay’s state-owned telecom network operator, said that it will fully assume control of ?Hola Paraguay! a Japanese-backed mobile operator operating under the Vox umbrella on 6th August.
Copaco paid US$3m for Vox in a deal which included network infrastructure, licences and facilities in order to enter the mobile telephone space. Copaco has found its margins under threat as the demand for fixed-line telephone service declines in the country. The confirmation came in a press conference by Copaco’s president, Mario Esquivel.
