The head of Paraguayan state-owned operator Copaco resigned yesterday because of a change in government.
Francisco Javier Galiano is stepping down to allow the new government to appoint its own representative to the company.
The centre-right Colorado Party regained power in April’s general election. The new Horacio Cartes-led government is set to take office on 15 August and Galiano’s successor will be appointed in due course.
The fixed-line and long-distance operator acquired mobile operator Vox from Japanese telco KDDI in 2010.
Vox is Paraguay’s number four operator behind Personal, backed by Telecom Italia and Telecom Argentina, America Movil’s Claro and Millicom’s Tigo.
