Swedish cableco Com Hem has appointed Andrew Barron, former COO of its UK-based rival Virgin Media, as executive chairman.
Barron will replace Nikos Stathopoulos, a managing director at Com Hem’s private equity parent BC Partners, who will remain on the board as a non-executive director.
His appointment comes shortly after Com Hem CEO Tomas Franzen announced plans to leave the group at the start of 2014 to head Stockholm-based media group Bonnier.
Stathopoulos said: “Andrew’s background and track record are perfectly suited to Com Hem and we will benefit greatly from his impressive experience of the sector.”
Barron left Virgin Media earlier this year after it was swallowed up by John Malone’s cable giant Liberty Global.
