The Colombian regulator ICT is to auction off spectrum in the 2.5GHz – 2.69GHz frequency band later this year, which can be used for mobile broadband services, it has announced.
The ICT Ministry will auction off 60MHz of the spectrum in a June auction, hoping to boost competition on the local market. The ministry is reported to have said that both domestic and international players have already expressed an interest in the auction.
More details on the auction are due to be announced by the ministry on April 7, with the auction itself set to take place on June 9.
