Colombia’s 4G auction should be postponed, two senators have demanded according to Convergencia Latina citing local publication Portafolio.
In a letter to regulator Mintic Jorge Enrique Robledo and Juan Mario Laserna, of opposing political parties, voiced concerns that the structure of the auction would lead to further consolidation.
The auction is currently scheduled to take place in October.
Colombia’s wireless market is dominated by America Movil’s Claro and Telefonica’s Movistar – the duopoly hold 85% of the market.
The politicians reportedly say that the tender will not allow smaller players to break into the market.
