ICT manufacturer Cisco’s CTO Padmasree Warrior will expand her role to chief technology and strategy officer following the resignation of veteran chief strategy officer Ned Hooper. The news was announced by Cisco CEO John Chambers in a blog post.
Hooper has left after 13 years at Cisco to form an independent investment company where he will focus on investment and strategy. “We look forward to partnering with him in his new endeavour,” said Cisco CEO John Chambers in a statement.
Hooper pioneered the model for large-scale M&A at Cisco and coordinated transactions such as Tandberg, WebEx, Airespace, Starent and NDS. Hooper also managed Cisco’s US$2bn investment portfolio.
Hooper was in the running to be Cisco’s next CEO according to Reuters, however Warrior is not considered a contender. She joined Cisco in 2007 after spending 23 years at Motorola.
