China Telecom is considering making acquisitions through its China Telecom Europe (CTE) branch, according to Light Reading website citing the division’s managing director.
CTE was established in 2006 in order to provide wholesale capacity to operators seeking to connect to the Far East and to supply communication services to the overseas operations of Chinese companies.
CTE managing director Yan Ou told Light Reading that the company was looking to buy an EMEA ICT company in order to give a recognised brand and ICT services to the company’s transmission services. He also said that CTE was looking for more partners, besides TeliaSonera International Carrier, T-Systems International and Tinet, and was aiming to add more points of presence in Europe.
CTE was not available to comment on this information.
