Chinese incumbent China Telecom President and COO Shang Bing has resigned, the company said in a statement.

He leaves to take on the post of deputy minister at China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Shang’s resignation comes as part of a management shake-up at China’s state-owned telecom operators, with Shang replacing Xi Guohua at the MIIT. Xi left the government last month to take control at China Mobile.
