Wang Jianzhou, the chairman of China Mobile, is to retire tomorrow, according to local media group Caixin.
He will be replaced by the current company’s vice chairman, Xi Guohua.
China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile operator by number of subscribers, was unavailable for comment before the press deadline.
Reports suggest that Wang, who is 63, was expected to step down sometime this year although no precise date was disclosed.
Prior to joining China Mobile, Xi served as China’s vice minister of industry and information technology.
This report comes a few days after Lu Xiangdong, an executive director and vice president of the company, resigned amid a judicial probe into alleged finance-related issues.
