China mobile has appointed Xi Guohua as executive director and Vice Chairman with immediate effect.
Xi, who is 59, has held different roles within the telecoms industry and related government and party bodies in previous years, according to a China Mobile announcement.
He is is currently Secretary of the Communist Party Committee and Vice Chairman of China Mobile Communications Corporation, and a Director and Vice Chairman of China Mobile Communication.
In the past he also worked as Deputy Director General of the Telecommunications Bureau of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and as Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
China Mobile commented in a statement: “The company firmly believes that Mr. Xi Guohua’s extensive experience and valuable expertise will be of great benefit to the company. The company takes this opportunity to welcome him as a member of the Board.”
