Amos Shapira plans to step down as CEO of Israeli mobile operator Cellcom Israel on 31 December, after six years of tenure, according to an SEC filing.
Cellcom, which is controlled by investment firm IDB Holding, announced that he will be replaced by Nir Sztern, currently CEO of local subsidiary ISP Netvision.
Nochi Dankner, IDB’s chairman, thanked Amos Shapira’s contribution to the company in a statement, saying that “six years ago, when IDB acquired the controlling stake in the Company, it was Mr. Shapira’s spirit which turned around the company’s position in the market and today it is the leading company in all parameters, financial and brand wise, with a professional and highly qualified team of employees and managers.”
