UK handset retailer Carphone Warehouse has today launched a new service that will enable users to access their entire music library from anywhere in the world.
‘Music Anywhere’ has been developed in partnership with digital media specialist Catch Media, and aims to offer more than six million tracks from all four major labels and independents.
Yaacov Ben-Yaacov, chief executive of Catch Media, told TelecomFinance: “Music Anywhere represents the beginning of a new era for consumers as well as the content industry.
“Consumers can now have the convenience of listening to their music collection across a wide range of mobile phones and through web access from any PC as easily as they use a bank card to withdraw cash from a cash machine.”
The service uses Catch Media’s flagship ‘Play Anywhere’ technology, which registers, tracks, routes, and reconciles digital content.
Ben-Yaacov said the company was also planning to launch movies through the platform before the end of the year.
