Washington DC-based PE firm The Carlyle Group has hired Peter Liguori to consult on telecoms and media investments.
Liguori, who was previously COO at Discovery Communications, will have the title of operating executive and will offer strategic advice on investments.
“Peter is a seasoned executive who has run several important media businesses and understands how to create value,” said James Attwood, Carlyle’s MD and head of telecoms and media.
In the past, Liguori was CEO of News Corp.’s FX Networks and vice president of consumer marketing at HBO.
Liguori serves on the boards of Yahoo!, MGM and Topps.
Since 2001, Carlyle has invested over US$8 billion of new equity in telecom and media investments. Current investments include French cableco Numericable and South Korea’s Hyundai Communications & Network.
