The Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has revoked licences of five fixed-line operators because of their involvement in illegal international call termination through VoIP, The Daily Star reports.
The operators concerned are RanksTel, Dhaka Phone, National Telecom, Peoples Tel, and WorldTel.
The regulator ordered the suspension of the operators’ services in March.
The five operators were reportedly providing services to about 600,000 customers, with RanksTel serving half of them.
The regulator was not immediately available for comments.
