UK telco BT has hired Rainer Koppitz as CEO and managing director of its business in Germany and Austria.
Botz joined BT on 1 March from German cloud-based IP telephony services provider NFON, where he was CEO, BT stated.
His previous roles included leading Dell’s IT services business in EMEA and various senior management roles at Siemens, which provided him with experience in IT services, outsourcing and systems integration.
BT claims to have about 1,000 customers in Germany and Austria, including two-thirds of Germany’s DAX-30 companies, other large corporations and banks. The telco’s network infrastructure in Germany spans four major cities and three data centres.
Botz replaces Nina Wegner, who has moved to the role of vice president of strategic information Europe within the BT Global Services division. She remains on the board of BT Germany as managing director and will continue to help the German team manage key customer relationships.
