African satcoms technologies firm BringCom has established a new private company with local Djibouti partners called Djibouti Teleport SARL to upgrade and manage the Djibouti Teleport facility.
Under the agreement, BringCom becomes the managing partner of Djibouti Teleport, while the partners agreed to upgrade the facility with new buildings, backup power, security hardware and an iDirect hub.
The refurbished teleport will subsequently provide round-the-clock Ku- and C-band connectivity. At present, Djibouti Teleport provides connectivity through Apstar-7 satellite.
“This agreement is a significant extension of BringCom’s capabilities to serve the requirements of customers in the Middle East and Africa,” said Fabrice Langreney, President and CEO of BringCom. “We are very fortunate to work with an extremely forward-looking group of Djiboutian shareholders. This relationship will allow us to revitalize the Djibouti Teleport in a way that makes it well-suited to a great number of potential users.”
Headquartered in the United States, BringCom owns and operates a teleport near Washington Dulles Airport, Virginia. The company offers satellite communications and VSAT services via Intelsat and Sky Perfect JSat’s Horizons-2, Intelsat’s IS-901 and SES’ NSS-10 satellites.
Financial details of the new venture were not disclosed.
