Brad Garlinghouse, president of the applications and commerce group at the US internet giant AOL, is reportedly leaving the company.
According to an LA Times report, Garlinghouse confirmed in an email that he was leaving.
The initial report on the GigaOm website cited various sources within AOL that said the company was focussing more on its media or web-media approach promoted by the team at the Huffington Post, and less on applications.
AOL’s applications and commerce group had included the company’s mobile team, which developed applications to link customers to AOL units like the Huffington Post and TechCrunch websites.
Separately, Business Insider reported that the CEO of TechCrunch, Heather Harde, is also leaving the company.
AOL completed its US$315m acquisition of the Huffington Post in March. It agreed to acquire TechCrunch in September 2010.
AOL was not immediately available for comment.
