French conglomerate Bouygues has turned down a €7-7.5bn takeover offer for Bouygues Telecom by Altice-owned Numericable-SFR, according to Journal du Dimanche.
Spokespeople for the companies were not immediately available.
The newspaper suggested that discussions continued, with a new offer by Altice chief Patrick Drahi “probable” in the coming months, adding that “it would be hard to resist a high offer in the long-term”.
This comes after last Friday’s agreement by Vivendi to sell its remaining 20% stake in Numericable-SFR to the Altice businesses.
