Bharti Airtel will rename newly acquired Warid Telecom (Bangladesh) “Airtel Bangla” when it launches services next month.
In January, the Indian giant purchased 70% of Warid for US$300m. Under the terms of the deal Bharti will also pay off Warid’s US$33m debts and invest heavily in network expansion.
Standard Chartered advised Bharti while Abu Dhabi Group did not use an external adviser.
