Indian telco Bharti Airtel has acquired an additional stake in its Nigerian subsidiary Airtel Networks.
The company announced to the Bombay Stock Exchange today that it had acquired an additional 13.36% of Airtel Networks Nigeria from existing shareholders, giving it a 79.06% equity stake in the operator.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
As TelecomFinance previously reported, Bharti Airtel has raised US$1bn from a new 5.125% bond which it listed on Singapore’s bonds market yesterday.
Barclays, BNP Paribas, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered and UBS acted as joint bookrunners and lead managers on the deal.
Airtel Nigeria appointed a new CEO last November. Segun Ogunsanya took over from Rajan Swaroop who had been in the role for two years.
