Telecoms group Bharti Airtel has named Heiko Schlittke as the new managing director of its Airtel Malawi mobile business.
The previous MD, Saulos Chilima, left in February to “pursue other personal interests”. Finance director Amadou Dina replaced him on an interim basis and is now managing director for Airtel Seychelles.
Since 2010, Schlittke has headed Airtel Madagascar and it remains unclear who will replace him in this position. Before that, he held several roles within Celtel, now known as Airtel Africa, on the continent.
Over the past few months, India’s Bharti Airtel has made several executive changes at its African operations, which are now fully managed by Christian de Faria.
Manoj Kohli, previously CEO of Bharti’s international operations, stepped down from his position in April.
