Bharti Airtel is planning a major restructuring of the company, by consolidating all regional operations into a single unit under a global CEO.
The Indian telco currently operates as two separate units: India and South Asia, which accounts for 75% of revenues, and Africa. Bharti Airtel finished implementing the ‘One Airtel’ combined structure for India and South Asia this August, but a complete integration of all its businesses will not be finalised until next year, according to media reports.
Manoj Kohli, the joint MD of Bharti and CEO of its African operations, is predicted to head the combined global business.
TelecomFinance reported last month that Bharti Airtel had restructured its board and the board of its infrastructure unit, Bharti Infratel, ahead of the subsidiary’s flotation.
Bharti Airtel’s market capitalisation was approximately Rs. 1,000bn (US$18.86bn) and its closing share price was Rs 263.30 (US$4.966) today.
