The president and CEO of Canadian fibre operator Bell Aliant, Karen Sheriff, will leave the company on 31 December 2014.
In late July, telecoms and DTH giant Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE) announced that it had agreed a deal to buy out the public shareholders in Bell Aliant for around C$3.95bn (US$3.68bn).
BCE already owned 44% of the fibre operator and has exercised managing control of the business.
As a result of the privatisation, which is due to complete by 31 October, Bell Aliant will cease operating as a publicly traded company and will be integrated into BCE’s national operations.
In a joint statement today, the two companies said that a new “regional leader” for Bell Aliant will be announced on the closing of the privatisation process.
Sheriff joined Bell Canada in 1999, taking on a number of senior executive roles. She has been serving as president and CEO of Bell Aliant since November 2008, after being appointed COO in July 2008.
