Belgian incumbent Belgacom has revealed that its CEO, Didier Bellens, was “formally indicted of passive private corruption” in June, relating to its property division ConnectImmo.
Bellens is under judicial investigation over the sale of one of ConnectImmo’s buildings in 2005 to local firm SPRL Xelis Siva.
“The Board of Directors immediately decided to initiate an internal investigation by the Audit and Compliance Committee,” the group said in a statement yesterday.
“Based on their report the Board comes to the conclusion that the interests of Belgacom were fully protected.”
Belgacom CFO Ray Stewart is representing the company in all matters relating to the inquiry.
