Bahrain-based telecoms operator Batelco is reportedly considering selling its mobile subsidiary in Jordan, Umniah.
Batelco has hired Citigroup for advice on a potential sale, which could fetch up to US$600m, according to a Bloomberg report citing people with knowledge of the matter.
A Batelco spokesperson declined to comment on “media rumours and speculative reports”.
Umniah, Jordan’s third-largest operator behind the local units of Zain and Orange, was acquired by the Bahraini telco in 2006 for US$415m.
