Ten months after Mohamed bin Isa Al Khalifa stepped down from the lead role at Batelco, the Bahraini operator has found a replacement.
Alan Whelan, who held key roles at various telecoms operators before, has become Batelco’s new group CEO. He previously worked for BT, US giant AT&T as well as Cable and Wireless.
In May last year, Al Khalifa left the telco. Since then a supervisory committee, comprising three Batelco board members, has been leading the business.
In late October, Faisal Qamhiyah, the CFO of Batelco Bahrain, was elevated to the position of group CFO following Marco Regnier’s departure.
Batelco recently agreed to boost its stake in Kuwait-based ISP Qualitynet to 90%, from 44% presently.
