Greece’s OTE has named Babis Mazarakis as its new group chief financial officer.
Mazarakis takes over from Kevin Copp on 1 July, as the Greek incumbent strives to refinance about €3.4bn (US$4.3bn) of debt expiring within the next two years.
Most recently, Mazarakis, 47, worked as group CFO for the National Bank of Greece. Previously, he was group CFO of Greece’s Titan Cement Company.
Mazarakis spent nearly a decade with the Vodafone Group between 1999 and 2008, initially as CFO and member of the board of directors in Greece and then as CEO in Hungary before returning to Greece as COO and vice-chairman of the board.
He has an MBA from the US’s Ohio State University and, in 2002, was included in CFO Europe magazine’s list of the top CFOs in Europe under the age of 40.
