Axiata Investments 2, the investment arm of Malaysian telco Axiata Group, has bought an extra 0.9% stake in Indian cellco Idea Cellular for Rs3.06bn (US$67m).
The company, formerly known as TMI India, acquired an additional 29.78 million shares at Rs103 (US$2.2) each, bringing its interest in the mobile network operator to 5.91%, according to a notice with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
TMI Mauritius, another unit of Axiata, holds a 14.07% stake in Idea.
