Asian telco Axiata Bangladesh has negotiated a US$100m loan with a Chinese bank, Telegeography reports citing local paper the Financial Express.
Bangledesh’s Central Bank is reported to have approved the loan, which will be charged below 5% interest.
Mohiuddin Babar, Axiata Bangladesh’s head of communications, is cited as saying the funds would be used to upgrade and expand infrastructure across Bangladesh.
Axiata Bangladesh, a joint venture between Malaysia’s Axiata Group Berhad and Japan’s NTT DOCOMO, was unavailable to comment before going to press.
