Amalgamated Telecom Holdings (ATH) has agreed to buy a 49% stake in Fiji International Telecommunications (Fintel) from Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC).
Fintel is currently 51%-owned by the Fiji government and the remainder by CWC. But ATH said in an announcement it manages the government’s stake in Fintel.
It added: “ATH is involved in the provision of a wide range of telecommunication services in Fiji through its wholly-owned subsidiaries Telecom Fiji and Fiji Directories and its 51% shareholding in Vodafone Fiji.”
Fintel is a provider of international telecoms services.
The deal value and the completion date were not disclosed. But ATH said that governmental and regulatory approvals are required.
ATH was not immediately available for comment before the press deadline.
