The Argentine and Brazilian governments have announced a joint plan to cooperate in providing widespread access to broadband internet in their countries.
In a statement on 31 January, Brazil’s ministry of communications (Minicom) said that part of the agreement involved interconnecting the Argentine state-owned satco Arsat and the Brazilian state-owned telco Telebras, without providing further details.
This agreement on bilateral co-operation will last until 2015.
It also involves measures to increase integration in the fibre optic network between the two countries.
Minicom did not reply to questions before the press deadline.
