British mobile network operator Vodafone has named Analjit Singh as non-executive chairman of its Indian unit Vodafone India.
Singh is the founder and chairman of Max India, which focuses on healthcare, IT services and financial services.
Nick Read, the CEO of Vodafone’s Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific region, stated: “Analjit brings a wealth of business experience and is one of India’s leading entrepreneurs. He knows our business well, having been the founder and chairman of Max Telecom, the business which has grown to become Vodafone India with nearly 150 million customers.”
Vodafone India is expected to go public later this year after Indian conglomerate Essar sold its stake in the company to Vodafone and Piramal Healthcare.
