America Movil (AMX) is seeking a second seat on the board of Telekom Austria (TA). In an update to the agenda of an upcoming Telekom Austria EGM, it was confirmed that the Mexican telco proposes to elect AMX manager Oscar von Hauske Solis to the board.
Plans to add Hauske Solis to the TA board had been reported previously although it had never been confirmed officially by either of the companies.
AMX, which holds a 22.76% stake in TA, is already represented on the TA board by Ronny Pecik, the Austrian investor who sold his stake to AMX earlier in the year.
The EGM, to be held on 23 October, was initially called to elect a replacement for Markus Beyrer to the board. Beyrer is due to step down as the head of state holding OeIAG, which is TA’s largest shareholder, controlling a 28.4% stake. Beyrer is set to be replaced on the TA board by incoming OeIAG CEO Rudolf Kemler.
Telekom Austria’s supervisory board currently has fourteen members, five of which are delegated by the works council. Hauske Solis would join the board as an additional fifteenth member.
