Shareholders of Telekom Austria have elected America Movil (AMX) manager Oscar von Hauske Solis to the company supervisory board. Hauske Solis received 99.96% of votes.
AMX holds 22.76% in TA since acquiring a stake from Austrian investor Ronny Pecik earlier in the year. Pecik was elected to the Telekom Austria board previously, and kept his seat after selling his investment in the company.
Shareholders also elected new OeIAG CEO Rudolf Kemler to the board. OeIAG is a state owned investment holding and TA’s biggest shareholder, controlling 28.4% of the operator.
Telekom Austria’s supervisory board had nine members previously, plus five members delegated by the works council. With the arrival of Hauske Solis the board will be increased by one member.
TA looking for acquisitions
Meanwhile, according to a local media report, TA is on the lookout for a bank to advise it on smaller acquisitions in Eastern Europe. The article quoted an unnamed source.
In an interview with TelecomFinance in July, TA CEO Hannes Ametsreiter had reiterated the company’s interest in participating in M&A transactions. “Eastern Europe is and remains to be our core region, and we will continue to assess opportunities there,” Ametsreiter said at the time.
In 2011 TA acquired Megalan and Spectrum Net in Bulgaria, and Croatia’s largest cable operator, B.net.
