US towerco American Tower has agreed to acquire 1,800 communications sites from Unison Holdings and Unison Site Management for approximately US$500m.
In a filing with the SEC today, American Tower said that the acquisition was expected to close in Q4 2011.
The price of the purchase is made up by US$304m in cash and US$196m in debt.
The companies entered into the agreement on 3 September.
The news follows American Tower’s US$182m acquisition of 2,126 towers from Colombian mobile operator Colombia Movil, a subsidiary of Millicom, in July.
