UK incumbent telco BT has announce plans to promote Luis Alvarez to CEO of its Global Services subsidiary from 1 October.
Alvarez was previously president for the unit’s operations in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. In his new role he will replace Jeff Kelly, who is leaving after three years in the post to return to the US.
Announcing his appointment, Alvarez said: “We have a strong business in the UK, mature operations in key economies and are expanding our presence in the fastest growing parts of the world. These are strong foundations that we will build on.”
BT, which has a presence in more than 170 countries, consists of four main lines of business: BT Global Services, BT Retail, BT Wholesale and its UK-focused open infrastructure unit Openreach.
