Altice shareholder Philippe Lhomme has reportedly said the telecoms group could be interested in acquiring Belgian cableco Voo.
Lhomme was quoted in local newspaper L’Echo saying that it would not be good for the operator to remain independent and that it could sell to either Altice, which operates Numericable in Belgium, or to its Liberty Global-owned rival Telenet.
Voo is owned by Tecteo, an inter-municipal cooperative in Wallonia, Belgium’s francophone region.
Lhomme said it would be a good time for the cooperative to sell given the EBITDA/EV multiples which are being paid for cablecos.
Altice has been highly acquisitive and agreed a deal yesterday to acquire Portuguese incumbent Portugal Telecom. It has also bought French mobile operator SFR and local MVNO Virgin Mobile in recent months.
